BIOGRAPHY

The "WALK ON" is a band that makes  tribute to one of the most successful groups  of international music, U2.  The band was born at the end of 2012 with the intention of carrying around the clubs and stages  of Sicily and beyond, the music of this Irish rock-band, which from the 80s to today, is  considered one of the most important and well-known bands in the world.
After a few months of rehearsals, in February 2013 they go on stage for the first time and from  then tread several spaces dedicated to live music in the Palermo area and various stages in  occasion of street parties sponsored by municipalities or provinces, especially in  summertime.
They use, with professionalism, stereo sequences that are sent via PC,  that reproduce musical parts of missing instruments such as pianos, strings, winds, sounds  electronic and effects. In addition, previously recorded choirs are played ... the  all in Home Recording.
They decide to form this band for this tribute, primarily for personal pleasure and  to make known to the younger generations the great music of  U2.

The components of "WALK ON"  they have a different musical background each from the other but despite this, thanks to  gained twenty years of experience of each in areas and genres ranging from rock to blues,  to funky, R&B, soul etc ... they found a great harmony, fundamental in the  realization of this musical project.
In the repertoire they have included the band's greatest hits such as ... "Where the streets have  no name "," One "," With or without you "," Pride (In the name of love) "," Sunday bloody  sunday "," Desire "," Vertigo "," Electrical storm "," Ordinary love "," Invisible "and many others ... considering that their repertoire is constantly updated.
They were the official band of the 1st U2 Sicilian Fans Meeting which took place in Palermo on March 3, 2018 in a  local  historian recognized in Italy as the temple of music in the Sicilian capital, "I Candelai" and can certainly claim to be quite satisfied with the acclaim they are receiving and hope to continue to carry around their music, the music of U2, the music which in general unites, excites and above all excites.

 

MAURIZIO SPARACELLO

 

Singer, songwriter, composer and arranger was born in Palermo on 29/10/1974.  From an early age he showed interest in everything related to music and his own  favorite toys were musical instruments .... drums, guitars, keyboards, microphones, etc ...
At the age of 6 he began to "torture" his parents for the purchase of his first keyboard  electronics and that was the beginning of his musical journey.
In 1980 he began to study music privately and in the following years he discovered the passion  for singing, first by self-taught, later followed by a great one  professional, the opera singer Cristina Alfano, who educates him and teaches him all this  that in 3 years he could teach him. On the transfer of the singer to the city of Rome, he  continues and increases the passion for singing which today after about 30 years has become one  lifeblood.
Start listening to various musical genres including Pop, Rock, Blues, R&B, Jazz, Hard Rock,  New Age to understand that his passion leads him to Pop-Rock music above all  the foreign one.
Favorite artists are  Stevie Wonder, Sting, U2, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Richard Marx,  Tom Jones  and many others ... and then get to the present day with Michael Bublè, Dante Thomas,  Craig David, Bruno Mars not neglecting a voice that unfortunately is no longer among us, that one  by the great Alex Baroni.

 

SOME PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES

 

With the unreleased music band COSMOPOLITI

In 1991, after a few years of apprenticeship as a piano bar, he began an adventure with a band i  Cosmopoliti with which he begins to put on a repertoire of exclusively unpublished songs  with which they begin to make room in the local music scene and beyond.
Also in 1991 they ranked first in the "NOTAMATCH" Festival in Palermo  winning the recording of a single.
Following a series of concerts in 1992 they are invited, as guests, to the Palazzo del  Tourism of Riccione.
From 1992 to 1996 a Live Tour was organized and edited by the show agency  Mediamusic of Palermo.
Also in 1996 he ranked, always with the Cosmopoliti, Semifinalist at the Di Festival  "Castrocaro Terme".
In 1996 and 1997 respectively they classified in 2nd and 1st place of the "Lago Festival" of  Piana degli Albanesi (PA).
In 1998 he ranks second at the Caltanissetta Festival and in the same year they are guests  at the event "NON SAY NO live concert" first National donation day  and organ transplantation, organized by the major Italian municipalities and broadcast live by Rai from  Politeama Square of Palermo.
In 2002 and 2003 they were guests at the “Lago Festival” in Piana degli Albanesi (PA).

 

With the Duo MAMAMAE '

With his friend Ezio Citelli in the duo MAMAMAE 'in 2003 he took part in the Sicilian tour of “Stella  for one night "(www.stellaperunanotte.it).
The Duo MAMAMAE 'has active about 800 evenings from 2000 to today.

 

THEATER EXPERIENCES (actor / singer / composer)

 

From 2006 to 2008 he held the role of Actor / Singer protagonist in the musical "Il Moulin  Rouge ”directed by Marco Fasciana at the head of a theater company of about 60 elements  including actors, singers, dancers, jugglers, extras, etc.
Among the various performances he remembers those held in some theaters of Palermo including  the “Metropolitan” theater and the “Savio” theater in Palermo.
From 2009 to 2010 he covered the double role of "Benvolio" and the "Prince" in the musical "Romeo &  Giulietta "by Giuseppe Celesia, treading the boxes of Don Orione, of Villa Pantelleria, of  Zappalà Theater of Palermo.
In 2011 he started working on a new project called "Frankenstein - The Opera" by  which composes all the music and arrangements of the songs and musical themes present  in the work.
In 2014, with Frankenstein - The Opera, he participates and wins a national competition  "FIRST PRIZE - Italian Original Musical Award" which will see it in June  engaged in Torrita di Siena in a Workshop of the work itself.
He is currently working on the composition of the music for a film "L'Innesto" for  directed by Giuseppe Celesia which will be released in January 2015.

At the end of 2012 he met three musicians Alessandro Citraro (Bassist), Paolo Turdo  (Guitarist) and Piero sciortino (Drummer), with whom he embarks on a new path, a  new project that pays homage to one of the most famous groups in music  international ... U2.
"WALK ON" - U2 Tribute Band in February 2013 come out for their prime time and from  then they make the major local musical spaces their own, enjoying a certain success. This  certainly thanks to the seriousness and professionalism made available by individual musicians,  the secret of every success.
He continues to work on his own, unreleased songs, which one day, perhaps, will come out of that  famous drawer.
 

MARCO ALAGNA

Guitarist, born in Marsala (TP)  on July 2, 1980.

At the age of eight he already plays drums and three years later, influenced by his guitarist father, he begins to take an interest in the guitar.

After a few lessons received from his father, he dedicated himself to it definitively, attending the Yamaha music school which prepares him for the admission exam to the Conservatory of Trapani.

Three years later he left his classical studies to devote himself to modern guitar and at the age of 15 he began his career as the guitarist of the "Ktulu" cover band from Marsala with whom he spent two intense and significant years.

During this experience he consolidated his relationship with Massimiliano Giacalone, with whom he later formed the acoustic duo “The Pigs Are Cryin '”; for more than five years, with this formation, he performed in the Trapani area, expanding his technical knowledge and defining his sound identity. Along with the musical experience, the passion for music and U2 grows more and more. In 2003 "Metropolis" was born, a two-year Pop / Rock cover band and in 2005 he formed the Queen tribute band of "Bohemian Rhapsody". After numerous live shows for Sicily, in 2007 the band broke up and in September of the same year, fascinated by the original and scratchy guitar sound of "The Edge" he founded "COEXIST", a U2 tribute band with whom he will play for 9 years treading the stages of all of Italy. In 2009 he attended the CPM (Centro Professione Musica) in Milan.

Among the most important seminars the one with Stef Burns, Luca Colombo, Quaini, Davide Tagliapietra, Alessandro De Crescenzo.

He played at Oscià with the project “The Dark Tourists”, studied with Gino de vita, Michele Pantaleo, Osvaldo Lo Iacono and collaborated with almost all the projects in Trapani and the province.

He played as a session player for "Nuelle" carrying around his first album.

Pino Daniele's concert opened at the “Cous Cous Fest” in San Vito lo Capo (TP).

To date he is the guitarist of "WALK ON" a U2 tribute band active since 2013 which currently boasts a considerable number of concerts throughout Sicily as well as the official band of the 1st U2 Sicilian Fans Meeting which took place in Palermo on March 3, 2018 to “I Candelai”, a historic venue in the city recognized in Italy as the temple of music in the Sicilian capital.

PIERO SCIORTINO

 

Drummer, born in Palermo on 09/24/80 and began playing guitar at the age of 13 from  self-taught, at 15 he begins to play the drums always self-taught, in  meanwhile he tries his hand at writing songs.  He participates with the Revival Band in various musical competitions for unpublished music and in 2002 he wins the  Festival of the Lake of Piana degli Albanesi (PA), and is awarded by the master Mogol with  a scholarship for one week at the CET (European Center of Tuscolano) school of  same.
After this experience, he begins to take lessons in music that is drums and technique  who theorist at the school "Amici della musica di Corleone (PA)" for about 3 years e  deepens various techniques on musical genres.
He begins to work on unreleased tracks with another band "Onde Sonore" together with friends  Alessandro Citraro and Paolo Turdo and wins 2 two scholarships, one for composer and  one for arranger of Italian music, at Hope Music in Frascati (Rm).
In 2007 he began studying with a great drummer, Ernesto D'angelo, a musician who writes  for jazzitalia.it, music critic as well as professional of all the most varied techniques  cultural practices from past times to today.
Extend musical knowledge in a complete way as well as grow musically and in  2008 thanks to Rosario Squadrito with the Onde Sonore band with Paolo Turdo, Alessandro  Citraro is a great friend who passed away a few years ago. Affatigato Cristian participate in the  Festival de Scobrimento in Brazil where they not only bring their own music but also a  tribute to the Nomads.
In 2010 he began to be part of a tribute to Ligabue with Radioraptus, thanks to Paolo Turdo  that calls me to be part of it. This tribute takes him around all of Sicily with results  really excellent.
At the end of 2012 with Paolo Turdo (guitarist), Alessandro Citraro (bassist) and Maurizio  Sparacello (voice), begins a new adventure, a tribute to U2 called "Walk On".  This tribute leads him to literally play professionally because of the  sequences programmed faithfully for all the best songs of the Irish group  world famous.  Today he finds himself with two bands of which he is literally proud, first of all for the components,  truly exceptional people, and then for the seriousness, professionalism and notoriety they stand  having.
We find many unpublished songs kept in the drawer hoping, one day, they can take  life.  He believes that music is union, idea, friendship, respect and all that leads to a  smile. The people he works with have all these characteristics and that's why  who manages to work well with them.
 

ALESSANDRO CITRARO

 

Bass player, born in Palermo on 13/07/1976. He began his career as a musician around 16 years old  ago, after listening to and idealizing bass players like Adam Clayton, Victor Wooten.  He prefers 4-string basses even if in the past he has also used 5 and 6-string basses.  He loves Fender sounds and does not like to use various pedals for effects, perhaps because it is tied up  to the pure sound of the Fender Jazz Bass sound.
He starts working on unreleased songs with a band "Onde Sonore" together with his friends Piero  Sciortino and Paolo Turdo and won 2 two scholarships, one for composer and one for  arranger of Italian music, at Hope Music in Frascati (Rm) and in 2008 with the same  band ranking first in a competition held in Ascoli Piceno wins the  participation in the Festival de Scobrimento in Brazil where he not only brings his own music  but also a tribute to the Nomads. 

Since the end of 2012 he is the bassist of "Walk On" - U2 Tribute Band  together with Piero Sciortino  on drums, Paolo Turdo on guitar and Maurizio Sparacello on vocals. Since that time  this new experience starts, full of new adventures, musical enhancements, exchanges  of ideas, all basic ingredients for the success of a project like this.
